Kathmandu, Dec 6 (RSS):The Nepal Police have taken around one thousand people under control on the accusation of attempting to spoil the election atmosphere.
So far a total of 957 people have been arrested from different parts of the country on the charge of attacking on political leaders, candidates and cadres. Of them, 600 are associated with the Communist Party of Nepal (Biplav), 13 are reportedly belonged to the CK Raut group and 344 are others.
Spokesperson for the Nepal Police, Manoj Neupane, said the Nepal Police is committed to ensuring the security for candidates and voters so as to make the elections successful. “The Nepal Police has deputed booth security squads, mobile teams and security in plain clothes for the purpose of election security.”
Around 90 per cent of its human resources has been mobilised for the election across the country. Those assigned for the first phase of elections have been send to the districts where the second phase of elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies is taking place tomorrow, Thursday.
Meantime, 11 people including three Indian nationals have been arrested by the police in Saptari on the charge of indulging in anti-elections activities. Of them, six are the cadres of Communist Party of Nepal (Biplav).
According to Saptari’s Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Singh, police also confiscated firearms from them.
Security in the district has been sped up in view of the tomorrow’s elections with the adaptation of additional security measures. The Nepal-India border points here have been sealed from today for the next 36 hours. District level security officials from both countries held a meeting earlier to discuss the security measures to be taken for the twin polls.
