Pioneer of Nepal’s Engineering Education remembered in London

London- Founder of Nepal’s first private engineering college – Nepal Engineering College (nec), and a
number of other colleges including Nepal Medical college and Nepal College of Information
Technology, late Prof Deepak Bhattarai was remembered amidst a memorial event held in
London.
Twenty students, colleagues and friends of Prof Bhattarai paid homage to the departed soul and
shared their valuable experiences with Prof Bhattarai, highlighting on his teachings. Born in
1951 and educated from India and the United Kingdom, Prof Bhattarai passed away on 28th
October 2019 after a long battle with cancer.
Former Chairperson of the Society of Nepalese Engineers UK (SONEUK) Mr Ghanshyam
Poudel, advisor Mr Rajesh Pathak, Secretary Mr Sanyukta Shrestha, Executive Bidur Ghimire
and senior engineers Mr Vijay Gurung and Mr Kanhaiya Bhagat also expressed their
condolences as the students and colleagues of Prof Bhattarai at various stages of his life.
The memorial event conducted by engineer Ms Alka Bajracharya concluded with
prasaad-grahan.
